The PCC would like to extend a "Very Big Thank You" to all of the willing volunteers who turned up at St .Michael's church on Saturday morning, wrapped up well, armed with tools and plenty of enthusiasm! It was nice to see some new faces in amongst the regulars too.
Everyone found a job to do, either individually or as part of a group, an industrious team set forth and really made a difference! It is amazing what can be achieved in a few hours.
Two areas were worked on, the area adjacent to the church looks wonderful, a real spring garden has been revealed...(normally hiding behind the hedge) have a look at the pretty snowdrops, primroses and daffodils growing there, beneath the old chestnut tree. It is a sight to behold.
The second place worked on was in the cemetery extension, across the road. Huge chunks of vegetation had been gradually encroaching into the cemetery and the tree lined boundary was fast disappearing, now we have reclaimed ground and light can get through, hopefully the grass will grow back ......and we have more space for burials!
The scruffy patch still sitting at the back off the extension is the wild life area, it will improve and receive attention as spring progresses.
Thank you again to the Hull family and associates, without them, their tractors and trailers we really could not achieve such an affective result.
To the generous ladies who provided refreshments and time to help serve. Thank you...we really appreciate it .
In all we had a productive morning and it was good to catch up with our regular little crew who give us amazing support.
Hopefully our next session will be in the autumn so please look out for information nearer the time... do come and join us, all help is valued wether you can do part of a session or the whole of it.
Until then, enjoy a better view of your village church and the beauty of the area around it.
